Pete Gleadall: Pete has made records with George Michael, Madonna, Take That, Robbie Williams, David Bowie and many others. Logic is the centre of his work flow when collaborating with artists like U2 and producers like Trevor Horn. Pete is equally at home in the studio as he is on stage, recently on the Pet Shop Boys “Pandemonium” tour, he was the musical director and was also nominated for a Grammy for his engineering work with them too. Pete’s dance music productions have been to number 1 in the Billboard dance charts many times and he has collaborated with some of the biggest names in dance music like Danny Tenaglia, Clive Henry (Peace Division – DC10) Smokin’ Jo and Tom Stephan (Superchumbo) to name a few.
Irfan Nathoo: Irfan is a producer, artist and DJ performing under ‘Lazersonic‘. Latest projects include Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Torch and half of critically acclaimed rapper RizMCs album Microscope. As a solo artist he is signed to Ali B’s Air Recordings and his other electronic credits with No Disko’s Zak Frost include releases on Turbo Recordings, Get Physical, Crosstown rebels, Simple Records and Gomma. He has deejayed and played live at venues, festivals and events from Fabric, Glastonbury, Benicassim to Cannes Film Festival, was MTV resident DJ for 5 years and is currently resident of West London’s rave outfit E.T.A. Irfan has over 15 years of experience making records on Logic and Ableton.
Tom Belton: Tom is a London based producer and composer with extensive mix engineering experience, focusing primarily on pop and electronic music. Initially working as an in-house engineer at Townhouse studios, Tom now splits his time between working on projects for media and being a freelancer for the music industry. Tom has worked on recording sessions for artists such as Mary J Blige, Muse, Damon Albarn, Placebo, Take That and Estelle among many others. Remix credits include Lady Gaga, Jamiroquai, Simply Red, White Lies and Cold Cut. Recent media projects include producing music for assorted advertising, television and video game projects, including PlayStation 3 games ‘The Fight: Lights Out’ and ‘Rag Doll Kung-Fu’, and advertising and TV projects for Hugo Boss, Nickelodeon and Sky.
Al Riley: Al started out after his BEng 1st degree in Music Technology Systems as an assistant engineer for Coldcut, he worked his way up to In-House Engineer at The Dairy Studios. Since then he has recorded two albums for Tricky, mixed Jazzie B’s ‘Masterpiece’ and has gone on to gain impressive credits on Soul II Soul, The Cinematic Orchestra and Laura Marling, working in recording and mixing studios all over the world including London, Paris and Los Angeles. Al is an Ableton and Pro Tools expert and teaches beat making and studio recording techniques right through to mixing masters. We don’t believe that he’s a real engineer because he doesn’t drink or smoke, and he runs marathons.
Lucie Burns: Lucie is a Songwriter, Vocalist, Producer, DJ and UK Label Head of German Record Label, Diventa Music. She has over 15 years Songwriting and Performing experience and her writing credits include Afterlife (Hed Kandi/Café Del Mar), Asian Dub Foundation and MJ Cole, she has also appeared live with Jose Padilla (Café Del Mar), Big Audio Dynamite, Afterlife and ADF. She appears on over 80 compilations worldwide under her new project name ‘Lazy Hammock’ and has tracks licensed to Sony, EMI, Parklane and numerous other labels. She also mixed Sony’s ‘Bar Lounge Classics – Relax Edition, which included five of her collaborations, this went straight to No.1 in the itunes charts.
Paul Waller: Paul has 25 years experience in the music industry working with Spice Girls, All Saints, Eric Clapton, BB King, Massive Attack, Bjork, The Beloved, De La Soul and Naughty by Nature. He was also a pioneer of UK House music and has worked with countless artists in a vast range of musical styles.
Paul has 8 years under his belt teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced students music production, programming beats and music, mixing and mastering , recording, AV specialising in Logic Pro 9. He also lectures BA and MA level at London Metropolitan and will only communicate using “WhatsApp”! Watch the video HERE
Mark Jenkins: Mark has authored many books on computer and keyboard & synthesised music. Most recent is ‘Analog Synthesizers‘. He has been Technical Editor for magazines including Electronics & Music Maker, Electronic Soundmaker, Computer Music and Melody Maker. He has written for Sound On Sound and Future Music in the UK, Keyboard magazine and Virtual Instruments in the USA. He has performed as a member of pioneering electronics group White Noise and with members of Tangerine Dream, Can, Gong and Van Der Graaf and Generator in the UK, Holland, France, Germany, Brazil, China and the USA at venues including the Royal Festival Hall, the London Planetarium and the British Museum, and specialises in music for analogue instruments and the Apple iPad.
Larry Holcombe: Larry is an Apple certified Logic Pro instructor and you may have seen him lecturing at the back of London’s Apple store in Regent Street. He also has remix credits including top artists Roots Manuva, Coldplay and Kylie Minogue. He has also released records as DEF inc. (Botchit and Scarper), Rebel Sonix (Eight FX) and produced house tracks recently as Disco du Jour and Zelma (a collaboration with Zelma Davis from C and C music Factory). His DJing has taken him all over the world from Minsk to Mumbai including live shows at Glastonbury and the Glade festival. He has also produced theme tunes for BBC TV and produced commercials for companies such as Haribo sweets and Sky TV amongst others.
Alex Von Soos: Alex is a London-based songwriter and producer. He is a trained classical pianist and has spent many years analysing the theory behind hit songs. His own successes include a UK No. 1 Hit with the All Saints (Black Coffee) and cuts by Atomic Kitten and many other artists worldwide, sellling more than 5 million records in the process. Alex has worked with some of the most prolific hit writers in the business including Cathy Dennis (Britney Spears, Katy Perry) and Wayne Hector (JLS, Westlife). Currently, Alex is writing and producing albums for new artists Dan Akio and Cherry Greene. He has also been busy in the advertising and music branding field working with companies like Coca-Cola and Vodafone. On top of that, he is about to launch his own songwriting consultancy business.
Martin Delaney: Martin is not your average Ableton certified instructor, he has written three ‘Ableton Live Tips & Tricks’ books for PC publishing, writes Future Music magazine’s Ableton Live tutorials, as well as product reviews for Future Music, Computer Music, MacWorld and Resident Advisor. Martin’s past private Ableton learners include Matt Katz-Bohn from Blondie, Radio 1 DJ Seamus Haji, Matt Robertson (Bjork and David Arnold) and Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim). Martin plays live A-V sets using the name ‘Mindlobster’ and produces, remixes, and VJs for other artists. He has toured the UK’s Apple Stores for Ableton, he has demoed for Novation and M-Audio, he makes Ableton videos for Dubspot and designed the acclaimed Kenton Killamix Mini USB MIDI controller. He’s such a geek, he carries screenshots of the latest plugins around on his iPhone to show everyone!
Marc JB: With over fifty number ones across the US and UK, Marc JB is one half of remixers/producers BIMBO JONES remixing artists including Lady Gaga, Pink, Ke$ha, Kylie, Kelis, The Killers, Tinchy Stryder, Katy Perry and working with the likes of Cyndi Lauper and Beverley Knight to name a few. He co-produced 2 tracks on Sergio Mendes’ album ‘Bon Tempo’ which won a latin grammy and co-produced ‘Meck-Thunder In My Heart’ which was number one in the UK charts for 2 weeks. JB started out playing thrash guitar in underground clubs, before becoming the accomplished multi-instrumentalist and DJ he is today. He also runs Sainted Music and his band ‘Etiquette’ is one of the hottest and cutting new emerging sounds in the Uplifting/Chill arena.
Steve Powell: Steve is our Max/MSP and Digital Synthesiser Design expert and has been working on a wide range of projects from designing custom made synthesisers and FX to engineering sound and audio systems for pioneering technology such as three- dimensional visual projectors and interactive spaces. He also performs live electronic music using his own creations, often alongside other music software. With a BA in Creative Music Technology and an MSc in Digital Composition and Performance, Steve has expertise in many musical fields as well as creating rhythm based composition and performance software.
Steve can offer advice and knowledge in making a tool for any creative idea you may have by using Max/MSP, as well as composition, performance and sound design.
Dave Garnish: Dave started his music production journey at the BRIT School as a musician with his first instrument being the guitar. He started his engineering career Air Lyndhurst Hall, he then went across to the EMI group which then consisted of The Townhouse, Abbey Road, The Manor and Olympic, recording orchestras one day and mixing pop records the next. Artists included Janet Jackson, Madonna, Bjork, All Saints, Massive Attack and most recently Friendly Fires. Producers ranged from Andrew Lloyd Webber to Nellee Hooper. Until 2001 Dave beta tested for Emagic Logic Pro before they sold to Apple and in the same year he signed a song writing publishing deal with Universal Music and set up legendary club night ‘BlaH ‘.
